Airmail Crashing or Freezing — How to Fix
<h2>Problem</h2><p>Airmail crashes on launch, freezes during use, or becomes unresponsive.</p><h2>Solution</h2><h3>Step 1: Force Quit and Restart</h3><ol><li>Press <strong>Cmd+Option+Esc</strong> to open Force Quit</li><li>Select <strong>Airmail</strong> and click <strong>Force Quit</strong></li><li>Reopen Airmail</li></ol><h3>Step 2: Update Airmail</h3><ol><li>Open the <strong>App Store</strong></li><li>Check for updates and install the latest Airmail version</li></ol><h3>Step 3: Reset Airmail's Cache</h3><ol><li>Quit Airmail completely</li><li>Hold the <strong>Option</strong> key while opening Airmail</li><li>Select the option to <strong>Reset</strong> or <strong>Rebuild</strong> the database</li></ol><h3>Step 4: Clear Airmail Data (macOS)</h3><ol><li>Quit Airmail</li><li>Open Finder → Go → Go to Folder</li><li>Type <strong>~/Library/Containers/it.bloop.airmail2</strong></li><li>Move this folder to the Trash (this removes all Airmail local data)</li><li>Reopen Airmail and set up your accounts again</li></ol><h3>Step 5: Check for macOS Issues</h3><ul><li>Make sure macOS is up to date</li><li>Check if the crash happens with a specific email (it could be a malformed email causing the issue)</li><li>Try creating a new macOS user account and testing Airmail there</li></ul><p><strong>Note:</strong> Clearing Airmail data does not delete your emails — they're on the server.</p>
