Airmail Not Showing in iCloud Drive Apps List - iCloud Sync Troubleshooting

If Airmail does not appear in your iCloud Drive apps list on macOS, iCloud Sync may not work properly between your devices. This article explains how to resolve the issue and ensure that Airmail can sync your settings, accounts, and data across your Apple devices.

Why this happens

Apple requires each app to be enabled individually in iCloud Drive in order to use iCloud Sync. If Airmail is missing from the apps list, the app cannot save its sync data to iCloud. The most common causes are: iCloud Drive disabled in System Settings, Airmail not yet authorized to use iCloud, an outdated version of Airmail, or a temporary glitch in the iCloud framework that prevents the app from registering correctly.

Step 1 — Verify that iCloud Drive is enabled

Open System Settings, click your Apple ID at the top, then select iCloud. Make sure that iCloud Drive is turned ON. Open the Sync this Mac panel and confirm that iCloud Drive is set to sync.

Step 2 — Check the apps using iCloud Drive

Still in iCloud settings, click Drive (or Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive on newer macOS versions). Scroll the list of installed apps and look for Airmail. If Airmail is in the list, make sure the toggle is enabled. If Airmail is missing, continue with the next steps.

Step 3 — Open Airmail at least once with your Apple ID signed in

Launch Airmail on your Mac. The app must run at least once while you are signed in to iCloud so that macOS can register Airmail with iCloud Drive. After launching the app, return to System Settings > iCloud > Drive and check the list again.

Step 4 — Make sure Airmail is up to date

Open the Mac App Store and confirm that you are running the latest version of Airmail. Older builds may not register properly with the most recent macOS releases. Updating to the current version usually restores Airmail in the iCloud apps list.

Step 5 — Restart and re-check

Quit Airmail completely (Cmd + Q), restart your Mac, then launch Airmail again. After login, open System Settings > iCloud > Drive once more. In most cases Airmail will now appear in the list and can be enabled.

Step 6 — Sign out and back in to iCloud (last resort)

If Airmail still does not appear, sign out of iCloud (System Settings > Apple ID > Sign Out), restart the Mac, and sign back in. This forces macOS to rebuild the iCloud apps list. Note that signing out can remove some local copies of iCloud data, so make sure your important data is already synced before doing this.
