Cannot Send Mail - Authentication Error

Problem

The user receives an error message: "Cannot send mail. Unable to authenticate with the current session's credentials."

Solution

This error typically indicates that the email account's authentication token has expired or become invalid. To resolve:

  • For Gmail accounts: Go to Airmail Settings → Accounts → double-click on the Gmail account → User → Refresh Token.
  • For IMAP/POP accounts: Go to Airmail Settings → Accounts → re-enter the password in both the IMAP and SMTP fields.
  • For Outlook/Exchange: Create a new app-specific password via the Outlook web login and update it in Airmail.

After updating credentials, restart the Airmail app and try sending again.
