How to Configure Action List Settings on iPad (Swipe Actions vs Reading Pane)

Problem

You want to customize the swipe actions or reading pane behavior on Airmail for iPad, or the action buttons are not showing as expected.

Configuring Swipe Actions

1. Open Airmail on your iPad
2. Go to Settings (gear icon)
3. Tap on Action List
4. Here you can customize what happens when you swipe left or right on an email
5. Available actions include: Archive, Delete, Mark as Read/Unread, Snooze, Move, and more

Reading Pane Options

On iPad, Airmail supports different reading pane layouts:

• Side-by-side: Email list on the left, email content on the right (landscape mode)
• Stacked: Full-width email list, tap to open email

To change the layout, go to Settings → Appearance and look for the reading pane options.

Troubleshooting Action Buttons

• If action buttons are missing, check Settings → Action List and make sure your preferred actions are enabled
• Some actions may only appear in certain contexts (e.g., the reply toolbar appears when viewing an email)
