How to Create and Manage Email Rules in Airmail
Problem
You want to automatically organize emails (move, label, mark) based on certain criteria.
Solution
On macOS
- Go to Settings → Rules
- Click Add Rule
- Set the conditions:
- From (sender)
- To (recipient)
- Subject contains
- And more
- Set the action:
- Move to folder
- Mark as read
- Archive
- Star/flag
- Delete
- Save the rule
Tips
- Rules apply to new incoming emails
- You can create multiple rules and they'll be applied in order
- For server-side rules that work even when Airmail isn't open, create rules in your email provider's web interface (Gmail Filters, Outlook Rules, etc.)
- Airmail rules only apply when the app is running
Common Rule Examples
- Move all emails from newsletters@example.com to "Newsletters" folder
- Mark all emails from your boss as starred
- Auto-archive emails from notification@social.com
