How to Disable Account Color Indicators in Airmail

Problem

After an internet outage or connectivity issue, Airmail shows red circles or colored indicators next to your accounts, and they won't go away even after reconnecting.

Solution

The colored circles/indicators next to account names represent the account status or are part of the "Account Color" feature. Here's how to manage them:

Disable Account Color

  1. Open Airmail
  2. Go to Settings → Messages
  3. Find "Account Color"
  4. Toggle it OFF

Red Circle Meaning

A red circle next to an account typically means there's a connection or authentication error:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Try removing and re-adding the account
  • For Gmail/Outlook: re-authenticate by going to Settings → Accounts → [Account] and signing in again
  • For IMAP accounts: verify your server settings and password are correct

After Internet Outage

If the red indicator appeared after an internet outage:

  1. Make sure you're back online
  2. Quit Airmail completely (Cmd+Q)
  3. Reopen Airmail — it should reconnect automatically
  4. If the indicator persists, go to Settings → Accounts and check each account's status
