How to Set Up Email Aliases in Airmail

Problem

You want to send emails from an alias address (a secondary email address linked to your main account) in Airmail.

Solution

What is an Email Alias?

An alias is an alternative email address that delivers to the same mailbox. For example, you might have john@gmail.com as your main address and john.work@gmail.com as an alias.

Step 1: Create the Alias with Your Email Provider

Aliases must be created at the email provider level first:

Gmail

  1. Go to Gmail web → Settings → Accounts and Import
  2. Under "Send mail as," click "Add another email address"
  3. Enter your alias address and follow the verification steps

iCloud

  1. Go to iCloud.com → Mail → Settings
  2. Add an alias under Account settings

Step 2: Configure in Airmail

  1. Open Airmail
  2. Go to Settings → Accounts → [Your Account]
  3. Look for Aliases or Send As
  4. Add your alias email address
  5. You may need to configure SMTP settings for the alias

Sending from an Alias

When composing a new email, click on the "From" field to select which address (main or alias) to send from.
