How to Use Unified Inbox vs. Individual Accounts in Airmail

Problem

You have multiple email accounts and want to understand how to switch between viewing all emails together (unified inbox) and viewing them separately.

Solution

Unified Inbox

By default, Airmail shows a Unified Inbox that combines all emails from all your accounts into one view.

  • Click Inbox in the sidebar to see all emails
  • Emails from different accounts are color-coded (if Account Color is enabled)

Viewing Individual Accounts

  1. In the sidebar, click the disclosure triangle next to each account name to expand it
  2. Click on an individual account's Inbox to see only that account's emails
  3. You can also expand to see individual folders (Sent, Drafts, Trash, etc.) per account

Customizing the Sidebar

  1. Go to Settings → Favourites
  2. Here you can choose which folders appear in the unified view
  3. You can hide or show specific accounts and folders

On iOS

  1. Tap the sidebar/hamburger menu
  2. You'll see both unified folders (All Inboxes) and individual account folders
  3. Tap on a specific account to see only its emails
