Restoring Airmail Pro Features After Trial Ends or Subscription Renewal (Mac App Store)
If your Airmail Pro free trial has ended and you have been charged for the subscription on the App Store, but Pro features (such as custom IMAP folders, unified All Inboxes, or the full sidebar layout) appear to be missing, this article explains how to restore them on the Mac App Store (sandboxed) version of Airmail.
Why this happens
The Mac App Store version of Airmail is sandboxed by Apple. The subscription status is verified by Apple's receipt system, not by Airmail directly. After a trial-to-paid transition (or after a renewal), Airmail sometimes needs a manual refresh of the receipt to re-enable the Pro feature set.
Step-by-step solution
- Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was used to purchase the subscription. You can verify this in System Settings > Apple ID (Mac) or Settings > [Your Name] (iOS).
- 2. Open Airmail.
- 3. Go to Airmail > Settings > Plans (or Settings > Subscription on iOS).
- 4. Tap Restore Purchases. Airmail will contact the App Store and refresh the receipt for your account.
- 5. Wait a few seconds for the confirmation message, then close and reopen Airmail.
If Pro features are still missing
- Confirm the charge has actually completed in your Apple account at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
- - Fully quit Airmail (Cmd+Q on Mac or swipe up from the app switcher on iOS) and reopen it.
- - Sign out and back in to your Apple ID on the device.
- - Reinstall Airmail from the App Store (your accounts and data are preserved by the system).
Refunds and billing questions
Because Airmail is distributed through the App Store, all payments, refunds and subscription changes are handled directly by Apple. Airmail Support cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases. To request a refund or review a charge, please use https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
Still need help?
If after trying the steps above the Pro features are still missing, please contact Airmail Support and include: the Apple ID email used for the purchase (or the last 4 digits of the App Store order number), the exact Airmail version, and the platform (Mac App Store or iOS).
