Todoist Shows "Not Installed" or the Integration Stops Working - Airmail for iOS and Mac

Airmail can send an email to Todoist as a task. If Airmail tells you that Todoist is not installed even though it is, or the integration suddenly stops working, follow the steps below.

Why this happens

Airmail is a sandboxed App Store app. It does not scan your device: it simply asks the system whether the Todoist app can be opened. If the system answers "no", the option is shown as not installed. This usually happens when Todoist has never been opened after installation, when one of the two apps is out of date, or when the system has not refreshed its list of installed apps yet.

Steps to fix it

  1. Open the Todoist app once and sign in to your Todoist account.
  2. Fully close Airmail and open it again (on iPhone and iPad, swipe it away from the app switcher; on Mac, use Airmail > Quit Airmail).
  3. Make sure both Airmail and Todoist are updated to the latest version from the App Store.
  4. Restart your device. This refreshes the list of apps that the system can open on behalf of Airmail.
  5. Open Airmail again, open any email, choose the share/actions menu and select Todoist. The first time, Todoist may ask you to confirm; accept to link the two apps.

Good to know

Airmail does not need any special permission to work with Todoist: the task is handed over to the Todoist app, which saves it to your Todoist account. If the Todoist app is removed or reinstalled, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Still not working?

Contact Airmail Support and let us know your device model, the iOS or macOS version, the Airmail version (Settings > About on iOS, Airmail > About Airmail on Mac) and the exact message you see. We will be happy to help.
