How to Find Archived Emails in Airmail

Problem

You archived an email and now can't find it. You need to locate archived messages in Airmail.

Solution

Where Archived Emails Go

When you archive an email in Airmail, it gets moved to the Archive folder (also called "All Mail" in Gmail). The email is not deleted — it's just removed from your Inbox.

Finding Archived Emails

Method 1: Check the Archive Folder

  1. Look in the sidebar for the Archive folder (or "All Mail" for Gmail accounts)
  2. Click on it to see all archived emails
  3. If you don't see it, expand your account folders in the sidebar by clicking the disclosure triangle

Method 2: Use Search

  1. Click the Search bar (or press Cmd+F on Mac)
  2. Type keywords from the email you're looking for (subject, sender name, etc.)
  3. Airmail will search across all folders including Archive

Method 3: Check "All Mail" (Gmail)

For Gmail accounts, archived emails appear in the "All Mail" label. If you don't see it:

  1. Go to Settings → Accounts → [Gmail Account]
  2. Check folder subscriptions and make sure "All Mail" is enabled

On iOS

  1. Tap the sidebar/hamburger menu
  2. Look for Archive under your account
  3. Or use the Search function to find the email by keyword

Unarchiving an Email

To move an archived email back to your Inbox:

  1. Find the email in the Archive folder
  2. Right-click (or long-press on iOS) → Move to Inbox
